2007 Small Vines Wines Sonoma Coast MK Vineyard Pinot noir - 94 - Lots of people will open this wine before its time. They shouldn’t. It’s big, bold and gawky now, like an adolescent teenager, all primary fruit blackberries, cherries, cola, pomegranates, orange rind and smoky sandalwood. As good as it is, the fresh tannins and acids really need time to mellow and integrate with the fruit and oak. Better after 2011. - S.H. (12/1/2009)
2007 Small Vines Wines Russian River Pinot noir - 93 - This brilliant Pinot Noir exhibits the finest qualities of the great 2007 vintage. It’s a big wine, filled with fruity flavor and sizable tannins, but so fresh and silky, it’s drinkable now, with decanting. But give it 3–4 years to let the black cherries, anise, sweet sandalwood and dusty spice flavors mellow. S.H. (12/1/2009)
Mr. Heimoff really nailed it on the cellaring reccomendations. These wines are built to last but if you must drink them, please do decant :)
