From 2002 to 2004 we searched all over Europe look From 2002 to 2004 we searched all over Europe looking for narrow gauge equipment that would fit down our compact vine rows, since nothing yet existed in the US. We finally found a match in the heart of Burgundy, GRV in Peronne, France, as it was light weight, which would be gentle on the soils and vine roots- and the slim frame would efficiently farm three rows at a time- saving fuel. Partnering with a local retail tractor outlet and importer, in 2005 the very first Caval arrived in the US to our shop in Graton.

We now have several of these machines, but it was time for newer implements that help us to continue to farm regeneratively and disturb the soil even less. It is important to us to keep a continual live plant/ root cover crop to create a soil armor, as well as to try and continuously improve soil health.

Almost 20 years later, we were happy to recently return and tour their meticulous factory and witness the precision and custom manufacturing.

Thank you!!

P.S. You can imagine how thrilled we were to see a photo of ours in their office, of the first Caval in the US at one of our vineyards, with our son only 18 months old at the time.
